My Paintings Inspire GnM Lohr’s Interior Design
It’s been since the first day I started painting on parent’s flat walls that I knew I loved to paint, but now painting, interior design and construction seem to correlate together and make sense even more as there must be synergy between interiors, building and material.
My approach to every project from the get go is planning a color scheme, style and then my paintings are placed in an appropriate setting. It is somewhat of an intriguing process. On our project on Caswell I’ve done just about that. I’ve actually done a lot more with all the upholstery, green design and recycling, it was important for me as an Austin Green builder to demonstrate that green design does not only apply to construction, but applies to green interior design and use of recyclable material. I collected used furniture over the span of 5 months of construction, repainted it and reupholstered. I also repurposed furniture such as a door into a mirror and a sewing machine into a table.
My paintings in some of our spec, model home projects are placed in areas that make sense form an interior design, style and color scheme perspective As a custom home builder my artistic approach is beneficial both during the construction and interior design phase.
Painting still is a form of expression to me, like photography and interior design. I love what I do and passionate about it. Doing these almost on a daily basis allows me to evolve and grow within changing trends and fashions.
